Bach Vespers at Holy Trinity Lutheran NY: Schütz's St. John Passion

  • The Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Holy Trinity 3 West 65th Street New York, NY, 10023 United States (map)

Holy Trinity Music Director Austin Philemon conducts the intimate St. John Passion by Heinrich Schütz in a dramatic service featuring an octet of a cappella voices from the Bach Vespers Choir, who will create a gripping presentation of this technically demanding, intensely expressive work. Bach's double-choir motet Fürchte dich nicht, composed for a funeral, opens this Good Friday service.

Gene will be joining the Bach Vespers Choir and Chamber Orchestra, singing the role of the Evangelist in Schütz’s St. John Passion.
